It's been a while since I've posted some of my cards to you all - March just ran away with me, I can't believe it's April already.
For this week's Coffee and Card, I had a request from one of my ladies to use the 'Flowering Desert' stamp set. Now, I won't deny that although I loved the concept of this stamp set, I couldn't really think of anything to do with it, but I love a challenge so decided to fulfil her request.
I'm actually really happy with the samples I produced. I decided that this stamp set really needs a lovely sponged background. I wanted to create a desert sunset using different methods.
For my first card, I used Night of Navy, Cajun Craze and Mango Melody ink and a sponge to create the sunset. My top tip for sponging is to 'prep' your sponge - this means to apply the ink to the sponge and sponge circles onto your grid paper before sponging on your card. This gets the ink nicely soaked into your sponge and helps prevent the sponge 'lines' you can sometimes get.
For the second sunset card, I punched a 2" circle out of scrap card and used the circle hole left from the punch to sponge a Sun with Mango Melody ink. I added some Cactus and other stamps and a sentiment, and there you have it - a very simple stamping card.
I'm definitely glad I used this opportunity to play with this stamp set - it was definitely not my ordinary style of card but I love the results - I hope you do too!

Happy Crafting!
