Needlepoint Nook for January Training Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to my post in the January 2019 Demonstrator Training Blog Hop. If you're starting at my post, have a read and then head to the next blog in the list to see some amazing creations from Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the World. If you've arrived at my page from another post, welcome! I'm Laura Hill (AKA The Stamping Cat) from the UK.

Before I show you my card, I must admit that this is probably one of the hardest cards I've created in a while. When I say hard, I don't mean difficult technique wise, I mean creativity wise! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that sometimes I hit a mental creative block and this one was particularly bad. I think because of Christmas and the pressure of making all my cards (entirely my own fault as I left them to the last minute!) I just wasn't feeling creative. When that happens, I find the best way to get my 'mojo' back is to spend a bit of time on Pinterest and Facebook and take inspiration from other's creation and giving myself a challenge to create for this Blog Hop.

I decided to go with a new Suite from the Spring/Summer catalogue called Needlepoint Nook. Sewing is so fashionable right now and this Suite is perfect for anyone who loves both needle and papercraft. The stamps in this Suite are distINKtive stamps which means they have texture, but my favourite products in this suite are the papers and the dies, so I decided to highlight these for this card.

You may have guessed from my blog that my favourite Stampin' Up! colours are Highland Heather and Mint Macaron, so I decided to use them for this card. I used the detail stamps to create a stepped background and used the dies to cut out some flowers with the gorgeous papers.

One of my favourite discoveries with this Suite is that there is a die which details a needle sewing line and it co-ordinates perfectly with our Pretty Label Punch! I punched out in plain Highland Heather Cardstock and then again in Vellum. For the Vellum I used the outline co-ordinating die and the stitched pattern die to give it a bit of texture. I finished off with the banner die in the Suite and added a sentiment with white embossing powder.

I hope you like my card and thank you for reading my blog! Now head over to the next post to see some more amazing creations.
