Today is my usual day for Coffee and Cards at Croughton Tea Rooms. This week, I had a request for us to make male Birthday cards. This is always a trickier type of card to make - I naturally go towards the prettier stamps with flowers, and pinks and purples, so this was a bit of a challenge for me.
Looking at my stamp sets, I decided to go with the 'Birthday Backgrounds' stamp set to design the cards - this stamp set has some really fun background stamps which are easy enough to make into the focal feature of the card. Add in a punch, and some combinations of the 2018-2020 In Colours and you have a card!!! This was the card I designed - I used Blueberry Bushel ink and a brayer to get the background, added the stamp in the same colour, punched a sentiment and job done.
I really had a lot of fun designing this card, so I decided to also do a 'stepped up' version, just to show the versatility of the stamp.
This time, instead of brayering the background colour, I used watercolour paper and an aqua painter to put the ink on. I then used a mixture of Blueberry Bushel stamping and heat embossing with the stamp for a mixture of textures. I finished off with a die cut sentiment from Banners For You, and added some embellishments.
There you have it - 2 cards, both based on the same design idea in my head, but different ways of doing them! I hope you like them.
All items used for these cards can be purchased in my shop - don't forget to include the host code for some freebies with your order.
Have a lovely crafty day!
